This tournament was founded by Helen Lengfeld in 1967 at Pebble Beach Golf Links. The first four years were won by Shelly Hamlin. Among the winners in the following years, were Amy Alcott, Patricia Cornett-Iker, Patty Sheehan a two time winner, and Juli Inkster. In 1987 the tournament was moved to The Golf Club at Quail Lodge.
